A couple weeks ago someone sneezed, and then Mystery said her first word: “Achoo!” It was an imitation of a sneeze, and she repeats it with vigor to watch our reactions. Not sure what that means about her future—will she be a doctor? or a hypochondriac? She has also been experimenting with “Muh!” and “Duh!,” but most often, after squinching up her face with concentration, she pops out with “buh!”
I enjoyed making a cake for a birthday girl this time! I got to use purple and pink icing! See if you can find the word hidden on top of the cake.
We celebrated Mystery’s first birthday today with all the grandparents. She could not figure out what the fuss was about, but she played along with unwrapping the gifts, the maple bacon chicken waffle tacos, and the smash cake her brothers decorated for her. She delicately picked it apart, ejecting small pieces onto the floor until John stuck some icing in her mouth. After that she alternated between taking bites and offering crumbs to Grandmommy’s dog, Cooper.
We made a slideshow of her first year, put to “Live Like You’re Loved” by Hawk Nelson. I chose it because I want her to live in God’s grace, and because she has been loved by a lot of people (including our blog readers!) already. Unfortunately we can’t post that music in the video because of copyright issues, but here is the same slideshow to a royalty-free song. Happy Birthday, sweet lady Mystery!
